Not Just For Play

There is more to a Dog Park than just a field where the dogs can run free. Friends of Millbrook Dog Park volunteers are involved in the operation and maintenance of the park as well as providing educational programs to area dog owners. This website contains information about the park, its rules, and answers to many questions that you might have. If you have yet to make your first visit to the park, please familiarize yourself with this material to make your visit a successful one.

Millbrook Dog Park is located within Millbrook Exchange Park, 1905 Spring Forest Road, in Raleigh.

The Dog Park

The Dog Park is composed of three separate fenced-in areas:

  • The "Large" Dog Park area contains large, open areas as well as trees and natural areas. This entire area is covered in wood chip mulch which is constantly being replenished to keep the park (and the dogs) clean.
  • The "Small" Dog Park area is a smaller area that is reserved for small, elderly, or infirm dogs. In this case, "small" refers to the size of this section of the park and not necessarily the size of the dogs. If you take a dog into this area, it should be compatible with the style of play associated with smaller dogs and puppies.
  • The Picnic Shelter area is a separate section, situated between the Large Dog Park Area and the Small Dog Park Area, that provides a double-entry gate system for the two park areas.

There is a separate, double-entry gate on the south side of the Large Dog Park area to provide additional access to that portion of the park.

Before entering the off-leash areas, be sure to read the Park Rules that are posted at each entrance.

Directions to the Dog Park

Millbrook Exchange Park is located at 1905 Spring Forest Road in Raleigh, NC. This is on the north side of Spring Forest Road and is about half-way between Falls of the Neuse Road and Atlantic Avenue.

If you are coming from the Falls of the Neuse side (the west side), go east on Spring Forest Road. There are two east-bound lanes on this section of the street. You need to be in the left-hand lane. Once you pass the stoplight (intersection of Spring Forest Road and Rainwater Road), you will see a day care center, a fire station, and then the driveway into the park. This drive is immediately after the fire station but is not very visible if you are not familiar with where it's located. There is a dedicated left-turn lane in front of the fire station.

If you are arriving from the Atlantic Avenue side (the east side), go west on Spring Forest Road. You will see Millbrook High School on the right. The driveway into the park is the next right turn after the high school, just before the fire station.

Once you enter the park, the road curves to the left taking you around the softball fields. The road then curves to the right as you pass the basketball courts (on the left). At this point the community center is on the right side of the road and the pool complex is on the left side of the road. Take the second left to enter the parking lot in front of the pool complex. As you enter the parking lot, the dog park is located through the trees on the right.

From I-540 - Use the Falls of the Neuse Road exit and turn south. Turn left onto Spring Forest Road, approximately 2.8 miles south of I-540.

From the west on US-70 - You can take I-540 to the north then exit on Falls of the Neuse Road OR you can continue east on US-70 and turn left onto Lynn Road. At the intersection with Six Forks Road, Lynn Road turns into Spring Forest Road. Continue straight onto Spring Forest Road.
